During the month of December, our first graders spread Christmas cheer as they took turns bringing home a bit of holiday magic! Each student chose a special friend—Santa’s Elf, Mr. or Mrs. Gingerbread, or the Santa Sloth—to spend the night with them. Along with their holiday buddy, students enjoyed a book to read together, a coloring page, and a writing activity to document all the fun they shared. The next day, they proudly brought their friend back to school to share their adventures with classmates. ✨ Best of all, each student got to keep their special holiday friend as a keepsake and memory of this magical experience! ✨ Check out all the creativity these first graders had and the fun they had!

First grade is brushing up on phonics this Halloween. 🪥🎃 Our first graders enjoyed Halloween-themed phonics mats that encouraged segmenting and manipulating sounds. They wrote one sound per tooth, then “brushed” away a sound to build new words. A frightfully fun way to strengthen phonemic awareness. 👻✨ Boo-tiful brains at work, first grade! 👻🧠
