The 5th graders just completed a Volume Zoo. This was an interactive project where they explored how to calculate the volume of 3D shapes. From cubes to rectangular prisms, these students showed off their math skills with confidence. Way to go, 5th grade! We’re so proud of your focus and teamwork!

The Summer EBT program provides food assistance to households, with school-age children, who are eligible for free or reduced school meals during the summer when they don’t have access to meals at school. Children are automatically eligible and would not need to apply if the household applied for and was approved for Free or Reduced-price meals at an NSLP participating school or is receiving SNAP, TANF, or FDPIR benefits or receives MEDICAID and is income qualified. Children may also be eligible if their household is experiencing homelessness, is a migrant household, or is in foster care. Children who do not fall into any one of those categories or whose household meets the income requirement for free/reduced-price school meals but has not completed a free/reduced-price meal application at an NSLP participating school must apply to determine eligibility for this benefit. Check eligibility or apply online at ndsummerebt.nd.gov The benefit is $120 per eligible school-aged child. Summer EBT cards are mailed to each eligible child and must be used within 122 days of issuance.

First grade had a pausing point in their Fairytale knowledge domain where they worked in groups to save Rapunzel from the tower. First, they had ten minutes to look at the materials they could use and come up with a design to safely rescue Rapunzel from the tower. Then, they had 15 minutes to not only create but also problem solve their work. Some designs were not working like planned so they had to come up with ideas to make it work. Last, they wrote about and presented their towers to the class. They had to identify their problems and solutions. We had some clever ideas: from parachutes to zip lines to trampolines to even water slides! Their creative and collaboration was fun to witness!
