Cell phone ban

Leeds Public School, along with ALL schools in North Dakota, are complying with the new state law relating to a bell-to-bell cell phone ban in North Dakota schools. Some schools in our state have had cell phone bans in place for a few years, but this will be something new for our students and families in Leeds. A new policy, developed with the assistance of the ND School Boards Association, provides the guidance for students, parents, families, and school staff to follow. Feel free to contact us at the school if there are questions.

Students in grades 5-12 MAY bring a cell phone or similar electronic device to school but the device must be 1) silenced or turned off, and 2) turned in at the main office where each student will have a separate, individual pouch that is secure, and 3) inaccessible to students from 8:20 am to 3:20 pm. Students are allowed to take their cell phone with them if they are leaving school for trips, appointments, etc, but must turn in their phone upon returning to school.

Students in grades Pre-K thru 4 will not be allowed to bring a cell phone or similar electronic device to school.

We encourage families to discuss daily plans ahead of time, communicate via email when necessary, and call the school office to leave messages that will be distributed to students throughout the day. We realize that immediate contact with a student because of an emergency, may need to occur. Our small school size is a benefit in this scenario, and we trust that students, families, and staff will use good judgement.
